We’re thrilled to share that Cary Comes Home Festival has been featured in Bristol 24/7!
The article highlights our upcoming Bristol Megascreen event on Saturday 29 November, where we’ll present Penny Serenade (1941) – the tear-jerking classic that earned Bristol’s own Cary Grant his first Oscar nomination. This screening has been a long-held ambition for festival director Charlotte Crofts, who says:
“We’ve been dreaming of showing Penny Serenade on the big screen for years—and now it’s finally happening! This is a film that deserves to be experienced in all its emotional glory, and there’s nothing like sharing those tears and laughter with a live audience.”
To make sure everyone is prepared for the emotional ride, we’ll be handing out free Cary Grant-branded tissues! The evening promises more than just the film:
- Pre-show entertainment with a DJ spinning 78rpm records on a traditional gramophone
- A choir performing songs featured in the film
- A post-screening panel discussion exploring music and melodrama
This is a rare chance to see Penny Serenade on the biggest screen in the West Country and celebrate Cary Grant’s Bristol roots in style.
