Meet Our New Volunteer Programmers

We’re thrilled to welcome two emerging voices in film curation to the Cary Comes Home team who are coming on board to help us shape an even more exciting festival for next year.

Eve Whelan is a graduate of the Beyond Boundaries programme (funded by BFI Film Hub South West) and currently works as Social Media Coordinator and Programming Assistant for Sofa Screenings (@sofascreenings), an independent cinema in the heart of Swindon. She holds a BA in Film and Television from the University of Bristol, where she discovered her passion for film programming and festivals. Eve says she wanted to get involved because the festival offers “a brilliant opportunity to celebrate the legacy of Cary Grant and his inspiring story, as well as highlight the heritage and history that the South West has to offer.”

Ellie Hendricks is a freelance film programmer specialising in heritage and the director of the Archaeo-Heritage Film Festival (@archaeoheritagefilm), which enables her to combine her love of cinema with her interest in archaeology and fine art: “The idea is to explore how film shapes our understanding of past events and cultures, and how cinema can help preserve and share heritage.” Ellie also brings extensive experience in marketing and festival programming, having managed large-scale events, built strong partnerships, and developed creative campaigns. Her expertise in social media and audience engagement will be invaluable as we grow the festival’s reach.

We’re excited to have Eve and Ellie on board as we start planning for 2026—two passionate, talented programmers who will help us keep Cary’s legacy alive and relevant for new audiences.
