This year’s CARY GRANT COMES HOME FOR THE WEEKEND festival runs from 23-25 November and has a Hitchcock and Cary Grant theme. The weekend is jam-packed with screenings of all four Hitchcock collaborations, as well comedy classics His Girl Friday and Talk of The Town, illustrated talks and events in significant places in Cary Grant’s life. Find out why Cary Grant was “the only actor Hitchcock ever loved” and how their enduring partnership resulted in some of the best cinema of all time. Learn about young Archibald Leach’s journey from Horfield to the meteoric heights of Hollywood fame and how he retained a bond to the city of his birth even after he became Cary Grant. Highlights include our opening night reception and screening of the award-winning documentary Becoming Cary Grant at the mental hospital where young Archie’s mother was committed; North by Northwest in the Planetarium opposite the Cary Grant statue and our closing night gala screening of To Catch A Thief.
