Irene Dunne and Cary Grant) are reunited in My Favorite Wife
Nick Arden (Grant) is finally ready to move on after his wife Ellen (Dunne) disappears at sea, waiting seven years before marrying Bianca (Gail Patrick).
However, Ellen’s sudden return during Nick’s honeymoon throws his life into chaos. She reveals she survived on a desert island with the dashing Stephen Burkett (Randolph Scott), sparking Nick’s jealousy and confusion.
Kathrina Giltre’s introduction goes behind the scenes of My Favorite Wife’s production. Drawing on archive research, she provides inside info on how the film handled the Production Code censorship requirements around marriage, sex and adultery. Additionally, she’ll touch on the intriguing rumours about Cary Grant’s relationship with Randolph Scott, who co-starred in one of Grant’s earlier film’s, Hot Saturday. This promises to be an enlightening session for all classic film enthusiasts.
